What We Practice, We Become
What we practice becomes habit.
When you practice, you intentionally do something over and over again and the hope is that you get better at it.
Think of some of the greatest athletes – they are good because they practice relentlessly. Think of world renown surgeons. They practice. World renowned musicians. Practice.
What if you decide what you want to practice this year? Most people do not keep their resolutions for the New Year. So whether you made any or not, what do you want to start to practice daily?
I will even give you some ideas. You could decide to practice:
listening more and talking less
yelling less as a parent
the art of NOT people-pleasing
being in nature and connecting with the Earth
being more present
taking care of your health
connecting with others
drinking less
taking time to be creative
The ideas are endless.
As a coach, my role is to help you think about your “before” and “after.” Where are you now and where do you want to be? Rather than some lofty goal, what if you made the decision to start a practice? What does this practice bring to your life? More peace? More inspiration? More time for yourself?
It doesn’t have to be big, but it should matter. When it matters – then you will actually do it. Each time you practice it is like adding another LEGO brick – eventually you have built the entire set. Maybe each time you sit down to write you just write one paragraph. Maybe on the sketch you are working on you just draw the nose. Micro moments of consistent practice are what build on each other and that is where the change starts to happen.
What do you want to practice in 2026?
