A Micro-Creativity Practice

There is no longer a break in the news. Between the unprecedented level of chaos in our country and the world, job layoffs, safety in our communities, among the normal shit storm of everyday life, it often feels like we never get a break.

I go between being glued to what is happening to complete avoidance. You know those days – when your nervous system just cannot handle any more depressing news.

Psychologists have shared what their dystopian times can do to our emotions and our mental health. We aren’t meant to be in constant panic, fear, and anger over the injustice happening before our eyes.

We need to have an antidote for the doomscrolling. Something to allow us to quiet our minds and nervous system.

A few weeks ago I started what I’m calling my “micro-creativity practice.” Short (10-20 minutes) of micro-creativity moments in your day. A way to pause your thoughts, quiet the noise of the world, and maybe bring a change in perspective.

You might just walk away with more confidence, new skills, and a calmer nervous system.
